The Interstate-5 exit to get here is located just 14 miles from the I-5 Bridge and parking is always free. As a matter of fact, our town is so quaint, it only has one stoplight. The Garden Club volunteers keep the street plants looking gorgeous every summer too. By the way, this is a picture from an earlier time in Ridgefield, but if you want more detail... you'll have to come to our event and ask Charlotte Clevidence, the tireless volunteer organizer of this event. She also has purchased a portable scanner, so if you have some wonderful, old pictures you want to let us immortalize... bring them along too!

In fact, we have been a popular resort since Lewis & Clark were graciously hosted by the Chinook nation. Ridgefield is home to a 1500 acre National Wildlife Refuge with wonderful trails and a replica of a Chinook Plankhouse on the northern end. Our area is also rich in artifacts and most recently a Wolly Mammoth's tusk was discovered during a freeway works project. We are surrounded by rivers so if you come by boat, we're happy to see you too. Ridgefield Kayaks will be happy to rent you the equipment to paddle around on Lake River or Bachelor's Island and our storekeepers, farmers' market and restaurants will all have Heritage Day specials. Many people come here for our 4th of July Parade, and we hope many of you will join us to celebrate our heritage.

Here is a partial list of some of the activities, exhibits, food vendors and shopping options. This year we have a new Farmers' Market and local Artists will be exhibiting and selling their work. If you want to see the kinds of things our artists do, you can visit the Ridgefield Art Association website too.

RIDGEFIELD HERITAGE DAY, AUGUST 21, 2010

Media Contact: Elizabeth Madrigal, 360-887-4530
Email: elizabeth.madrigal@gmail.com

WHAT: 10th Annual Celebration of Ridgefield Heritage Day

WHO IS INVITED: Open to the general public

WHEN: Saturday, August 21st, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

WHERE: The Community Center and Davis Park, 210 N.
